Urban Outfitters, you nasty! That's right, the ironic t-shirt mecca has its eye on Nasty Gal — the eBay-store-turned-etailer which has blown up in the past few years.

In this week's New York Times profile of the site's 28-year-old (!) owner Sophia Amoruso, the entrepreneur let slip that she's "talking" to the megachain about a potential buyout.

A little background info: In 2006, Amoruso started Nasty Gal as an eBay store selling one-off vintage goods. By 2008, she outgrew the platform, bought her own domain, hired a buyer, and started courting brands like Jeffrey Campbell. (Remember the Lita craze? You can blame Sophia Amoruso for that.) Nasty Gal's body-con, cutout-heavy clothing and towering platforms caught on with the Instagram-happy personal style blogger set, and last year the e-commerce site netted close to $100 million. So, it's not like Nasty Gal is hurting for money.

But, according to the tech analysts the writer interviewed, an acquisition might be a good idea,  if only because people won't be interested in buying galaxy-print jeggings and cross jewelry forever. As one source put it, "Nasty Gal is playing on a short-term fashion trend that will be difficult to sustain on the public market."

It seems like Sophia Amoruso is aware of that risk, though. “It’s been very charmed, but I’m not willing to rest on my laurels,” she said. “It’s only going to get harder to keep building from here.”
