One of my favorite annual pilgrimages is a May trip I take—always with Paper Magazine's gorgeous and fabulous Mr. Mickey—to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Every year, we stroll around town, stop into Paula Deen's for biscuits:
Go for dinner by the water at dusk:
And see some mindblowing SCAD student collections—like this, from last year's show:
You know who else comes on this annual pilgrimage to SCAD? The one and only Andre Leon Talley, formerly a contributing editor at Vogue and now the editor-at-large for Numero Russia and a man with a talk show in development. Every year Talley, a trustee of the college, awards the Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award to a luminary in the fashion design industry—an honoree list that's included Oscar de la Renta, Manolo Blahnik, Karl Lagerfeld, Diane Von Furstenberg, and more.
This May, Talley will be honoring Calvin Klein Collection's Creative Director Francisco Costa at the university's annual fashion show on May 18th. Congratulations to Francisco Costa and we'll see you in Savannah! Want to come have biscuits with us? xo
