Karl Lagerfeld and
Yves Saint Laurent were lifelong rivals—and whomever pledged his loyalty to the house of Saint Laurent shall never grace the hallowed halls of
Chanel, and vice versa. Until now.
According to
a report in today's
WWD,
Gaspard Ulliel, a French model and actor who has served as the face of Chanel's men's fragrance "Blue" since 2010, has been tapped to play
Yves Saint Laurent in a new film,
Saint Laurent. The Bertrand Bonello (The Pornographer, House of Tolerance) directed biopic will start shooting in spring 2013.
Besides his modeling work, you may recognize Ulliel from his film work—he played a young Hannibal Lecter in
Hannibal Rising and a long roster of French films, including
A Very Long Engagement,
The Art of Love, and
The Princess of Montpensier.
How do you think Ulliel will do as Yves Saint Laurent in the new biopic? We're so excited to see it! Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
