In the past five years, Ivanka Trump's launched collections of fine jewelry, handbags, accessories, and footwear and penned a New York Times best-seller on success in the workplace—now the business-minded beauty is adding sunnies to her long list of achievements. (Hey, she learned how to run a biz from the best, right?)
Yesterday, we popped by the designer's SoHo store to check out the new collection, which rolls out in department stores and her custom boutiques next year. Trump even walked us through the line, herself!
She showed us these sleek square sunnies:
Bold black-and-white frames with chain-link-adorned stems—note the gorgeous chandelier reflection from upstairs in Trump's store:
Here's a close-up of the detailing:
We saw plenty of classics in terms of pattern and shape, like these oversized tortoise frames:
Trump presented us with one of her personal favorites, a Deco-inspired style she now calls the "O" glasses—not just for the crystal-laden inset, but because Oprah wore this exact pair on her show, not once, not twice, but six times!
Here's another (more official) angle of the "O" frames—each pair of sunglasses will feature Trump's signature coral mark on the inside and the temple tip:
"This is one of my favorite pieces," Trump said about the modern tortoise frames below. "I think it's just amazing. I love the stingray element and the shape, and again, the interesting hardware."
Finally, we couldn't leave without a quick beauty tip from the designer—if you think she's stunning in photos, just wait until you see her in person!—so we asked how she primps when she knows she'll be in sunnies most of the day:
"A lot of times when I'm wearing sunglasses it's on the weekend when I have no other makeup on," she told us. "They're a little bit of a beauty shield, if you will. So often, if I'm wearing sunglasses, I'll play up my lips with a little color. Lately, I've been wearing Burt's Bee Tinted Lip Balm. It's amazing and it's easy and it gives you just a hint of color. It's perfect for running around with a baby—low-maintence is key!"
Which sunnie style do you like best? Will you be checking out the pieces when they hit stores? (Most fell well under $150!) Sound off with your picks in the comments, below!
