Michelle Obama's been rocking her brand-new bangs for a few weeks now, and we still can't stop talking about them — and neither can
Karl Lagerfeld, apparently.
In a recent interview with
Le Petit Journal, a French TV show, the Chanel creative director and industry loudmouth decided to weigh in with his thoughts on the FLOTUS' fringe.
He said on the show: "I don't understand the change of hair. I adore Madame Obama, I love her. But
there is a news reader at LCI which has this haircut."
A news anchor? Burn! At least "
Madame
Obama" sounds so pleasant and regal it almost covers up the criticism.
(Photo by Getty) Me? Madame Obama? But the Kaiser is never one to put a Chanel-shoed foot in his mouth, so his commentary didn't stop there. He affirmed his distaste for the First Lady's look by following up with: "Frankly, this doesn't suit her.
The fringe was a bad idea, it's not good."
Mrs. O is in good company, though — in the past, Lagerfeld's thrown zingers at
Adele (for her weight),
Pippa Middleton (for her face), and
Heidi Klum (for being "too fat" a.k.a. pregnant on the runway) — so she shouldn't take the blow too hard.
In other news from his interview, the Kaiser also revealed he has a mysterious case of
shrinking fingers. Do what you will with that.
