When looking forward to couture week, we more than often tend to dream about impressive gowns first, while patiently waiting to see how heavy embellishments, delicate handmade appliques and light-as-air fabrics take over the runway. For as far as we used to know, at least two weeks out of the entire year were dedicated to supreme femininity, delicacy and extravagance. But stories change and as fashion tends to applaud innovation, even couture got to make an arresting turn and embrace quite an opposite direction.
The spring 2013 couture runways served as the first clear sign that some rules got broken and that the game was about to change. Still filled with dramatic garments, the main collections also introduced a selection of outstanding pants for the evening, having girls borrow from the boys yet again. Under constant evolution, the androgyny fashion made a pretty big step towards conquering the fashion industry as a whole.
