Gary Bigeni to my mind is the man behind the twists and drapes. In seasons past he took jersey and reworked it, twisted and turned it, gave it new life; one imagines he must have looked at his work and on the seventh day said it is good, and having completed his mission so fully, moved on.
Bigeni’s spring / summer 2012 / 2013 collection at Australian fashion week (MBFWA) still had little hints of that draping; but this time promoted from jersey to silk. The rest was elegant simplicity, as Bigeni is known for, only fresher and more elegant than ever. A minimalist piano score complimented the leather shell tops and floating skirts, the bold jewel tones set off against nudes, the clean open weave details and geometric prints.
