To some people, the word “bridal” has cringe-worthy associations of rock-solid hairsprayed up-’dos and meringue shaped dresses. That’s where a look book like Mariana Hardwick’s – for her Bridal Luxe Collection – comes in. The dresses have plenty of traditional wedding dress clout, from their palette of pure white and icy grey to their cuts – some flowing, some bodiced. But the look book’s presentation swathes them in simplicity. The shimmer of silver eyeshadow and hair left to hang unfussed with, sometimes even a little tousled and messy, gives everything a laid-back air. Hardwick’s bride may be wearing an intricately beaded couture gown, but she’s not the kind to ever appear high strung.
