The elegance of years gone by

There’s a school of thought put about in some circles that we see too much vintage fashion – that too many fashion trends rework what has gone before as opposed to pushing fashion forwards in new directions. It’s a school of thought that I can’t help disagree with. If a design from the past was executed so successfully that it still appeals, why should we not have the right to continue to indulge in it in the present? This isn’t lazy design but catering to people’s desires.
Those desires echo through all realms of fashion; from the clothes we wear to the revivalist parties we attend. It also echoes through into style, with nondescript clothes given an air of the vintage alongside makeup and hair that fits the bill.
