With the cold stone backdrops and still life props – grapes, pomegranates, loaves of bread, yellowed leatherbound books amoung them – you’d be forgiven for mistaking this shoot for a series of realist portraits. But it was Natalia Alaverdian’s lens, not Rembrandt’s brush, that created these. Taking on the dual role of stylist, Alaverdian brilliantly gives modern clothes the impression of being from another time.
And, if you thought wet look hair was just for the beach, this is styling that proves its versatility. Irina Nikolaeva wears it to perfection.
