Menswear worth fighting for
When it comes to men and fighting there are those gritty, glass-breaking affairs that end in broken noses and the intervention of hulking bouncers, and then there’s, well, Bridget Jones’s Diary. You know the scene: it starts with Hugh Grant exclaiming “Fuck me, that hurt!” in his trademark foppish tone after being socked in the face by Colin Firth. What follows is potentially the most prissy male fight in cinematic history.
It’s hard to look at this shoot by Paola Kudacki and not recall the Grant-Firth altercation – if only for the dandy clothing, handsome faces, and lack of blood – even if the beach scene and sharp evening-wear should be closer to something off a James Bond reel. Either way, Keegan Singh’s styling offers up plenty of inspiration for keeping evening attire interesting and away from classic black and white. The trends here reflect much of what’s happening in the womenswear space, filtering through to menswear: metallics, prints and even a jacket constructed of white perforated mesh are all stand-out without being over the top.
