The 69th Annual Gold Globes, also known as the 2012 Oscars, was held at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday 26th February in Hollywood, California and as usual, it was all about what everyone was wearing.
I’m always a fan of Oscar fashion, but this year, for me, it was quite a disappointment. I found the red carpet dresses to be quite dull and not very interesting. I much preferred some of the Vanity Fair and Elton John’s party dresses. But as the Oscars go, this is definitely my least favourite year so far. I have piled together some photos of the dresses I loved though, there are about 16 and I think they are gorgeous!
Above is Claire Danes. She looked so pretty and feminine in her Valentino dress which she paired with Christian Louboutin heels, a Lanvin clutch, a Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet and some Tiffany & Co. earrings. I think she looks amazing! I honestly love everything about this look and the dress is just stunning. This was definitely my favourite of the whole evening!

Heidi Klum looked so bright, fun and cheerful in a yellow Versace dress which she wore with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. I love the fact she combined the yellow with gold, I think it makes such a classy look! Heidi can always pull off anything and if anyone can rock a bright yellow dress, it’s her! This was my second favourite outfit of the evening.
I love Selena Gomez! I think she is adorable and so sweet! She wore a Dolce & Gabbana gown with Stuart Weitzman shoes and a Judith Leiber clutch. It’s such a classy and elegant look, I adore the sparkles on the dress and how simple everything is. This is definitely a great look for Selena.
Emma Stone looked amazing in red! She wore a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress with Brian Atwood heels with a Louis Vuitton bag and jewellery. The cut of this gown is so pretty! It’s really flattering and striking at the same time. I think the bow around the neckline really makes it dramatic as well!
Katy Perry is always a lady I am intrigued to see at events, she always stands out in her dresses. She chose to wear a gorgeous embellished dress by Blumarine with Miu Miu heels and a Judith Leiber clutch. Even though she has blue hair, I think she looks so glamorous here and really pretty! I love the dress!
Kate Hudson wore a very elegant and classic red vintage Versace dress for the evening and she wore it well! She accessorized it with Tiffany & Co. jewellery. I love the mesh around the neckline and the back, it’s see through, but it doesn’t give that trash appearance.
Sofia Vergara is always gorgeous! She wore a strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with some Casadei heels, a Judith Leiber bag and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. I think she looks stunning and this is a dress that I could see someone getting married in! It’s definitely beautiful!
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley posed with her boyfriend Jason Statham in an Antonio Berardi dress which she accessorized with Harry Winston jewellery and a Jimmy Choo clutch. Rosie has definitely become a style icon in the past year, I adore everything she wears, casual to classy, and this dress definitely didn’t disappoint me!
I adore Ashley Madekwe! She’s so friendly and sweet. We have exchanged a few emails before and I know she has read my blog which is wonderful! I was excited to see her at the Vanity Fair party! She looked so pretty in a Georges Hobeika dress with some Forevermark Diamonds jewels, Christian Louboutin shoes and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.
I’m unsure on Diane Kruger’s dress here, but she’s definitely a vision in red! I love how sexy this dress is, but at the same time it’s very classic. The red is striking and it’s such a flattering cut on her. The lace area around the bust is such a nice touch! Diane carried a Judith Leiber clutch to set off the dress too.
Stacy Keibler posed with the gorgeous George Clooney on the red carpet. Stacy wore a gold metallic Marchesa dress with some Lorraine Schwartz jewels while George wore a Giorgio Armani tuxedo. I thought we would see more of Marchesa at the Oscars, but it seems not! Stacy does look very glam though!
Salma Hayek was also another lady to wear red! She wore a Yves Saint Laurent Framboise silk mousseline dress with wheat embroideries, a pair of Divine sandals in Framboise satin, and a black minaudiere with gold embroideries. I think she looks incredible! The dress is stunning!
Octavia Spencer looked so classic in a custom hand beaded Tadashi Shoji creation which she finished off with Jimmy Choo shoes, Neil Lane jewellery and a Judith Leiber clutch. We don’t see much of Octavia around, but when we do, she really knows how to look red carpet appropriate! It’s such a feminine and elegant look which flatters her curves well.
Kate Upton posed for the cameras in a beautiful red dress, again I am unsure on the designer behind this beautiful piece, but I know she wore David Webb jewellery. I think Kate is absolutely beautiful and this red really stands out against her hair and her skin perfectly, she looks incredible!
I thought Natalie Portman looked so cute in her vintage Dior Haute Couture dress from the 1954 collection! I love the polka dots on it! Natalie was one for me that wasn’t afraid to try out something different and polka dots are a trend that is creeping back up again. She wore Dior heels, a Charlotte Olympia bag and some Harry Winston jewels for the night too.
Usually I am not a fan of the Williams sisters style at all, but this dress was one I loved! Venus Williams wore a gorgeous pink and purple dress which was custom made by Christiane King gowns and it looks amazing on her! It’s so bright and girly and it is really flattering on her figure. I think she looks incredible!
