Nicole Richie's glamorous updo has elements of a half-up, half-down style and a classic high ponytail. To duplicate her look, begin with super-sleek and straight tresses. To get hair smooth, first blow dry damp strands with a large round brush and then use a flat iron to press out any unruliness. Next, section out bangs if you have them along with a two inch swath running from the middle of the crown back about three inches. Then, section out two two-inch wide pieces on either side of the center section. Now, take all the long lengths and draw them up into a tight ponytail directly under the center section. Next, the two side sections can be swept back and secured with bobby pins on either side of the ponytail. The center section can then be drawn over the ponytail and combined with it while the two side sections should keep this piece in place. Finish the look with a little flexible-hold hairspray.
