John Galliano Apologizes for Behavior, Enters Rehab

John Galliano (Bauer Griffin) John Galliano has broken his silence about the events that led to his arrest last week, apologizing for any offence caused by his behavior.

"Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologize for my behavior in causing any offence," Galliano insisted in an official statement.

He went on to explain that the trouble started after he was "subjected to verbal harrassment and an unprovoked assault when an individual tried to hit me with a chair having taken violent exception to my look and my clothing." It isn't clear whether Galliano refers to his accusers or the unnamed party who recorded a clearly intoxicated Galliano slurring, "I love Hitler." Either way, someone's getting sued, as Galliano stated, "I have commenced proceedings for defamation and the threats made against me."

The British designer is believed to have checked into a substance abuse treatment facility, with the New York Times speculating he is at The Meadows in Wickenberg, Arizona. Galliano was dismissed as chief designer of Christian Dior on Tuesday.
