Raf Simons presented his first-ever Christian Dior collection at Haute Couture week in Paris (that's cool, no pressure) this morning. It was redolent with classical Dior references—hello new look!—fused with Simons' modernist, minimalist sensibilities.
Accordind to the @Dior tweets, Simons took quite a bit of inspiration from the Dior archives. The intricate embroidery on the backs of dresses are "remakes of historical Dior designs," the pastel colors are considered a Dior staple, and a white organza dress, which was inspired by the original Miss Dior dress, was embroidered with hundreds of tiny confettis means to evoke the flowers of Miss Dior.
