Alexander McQueen Creative Director Sarah Burton will be made an OBE (Order of the British Empire) as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours this year.

Burton, who took the reins at McQueen following the untimely death of the label's namesake designer in 2010, has been widely lauded for her work at fashion house. Burton is a favorite of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, who wore a Sarah Burton for McQueen dress to wed Prince William.

"Everything I know I learned here," Burton once told The Independent.  If you didn't know how to do something, Lee made you take on the challenge and would teach you how, or leave you to figure out how to do it yourself... He once handed over a bias-cut houndstooth dress and said, 'Now, put a zip in it', then left for the weekend."

Congratulations Sarah!
