Cosmopolitan; Joanna Coles leaves
Marie Claire to take up the head honcho job at
Cosmo; Anne Fulenwider leaves the helm of
Brides to take over at
Marie Claire.
White has been the editor-in-chief at Cosmopolitan for the past 14 years. According to a
report in the
New York Times, she first broached the subject of leaving earlier this year.
Coles, who's helmed
Marie Claire for the past six years, will move from to the
Cosmopolitan floor in the Hearst building.
"I'm incredibly excited about the global footprint," Coles told the
Times. "It's big because it talks about things that are really important to women. It's such an iconic logo."
In a press release follow-up, Anne Fulenwider, previously the editor-in-chief of
Brides and, before that, the executive editor at
Marie Claire under Coles' leadership, was announced as Coles successor.
"I am thrilled to return to
Marie Claire as editor-in-chief," she said in a statement. "I have such a strong attachment to the brand and what it delivers to the savvy, stylish women to read it. I look forward to contributing to its continued success on every front—from print to digital to television."
No word yet on who will succeed Fulenwider at
Brides.
