What was Karl Lagerfeld Doing on a Street Bench in Broad Daylight?

Fashion designers—even living legends like Karl Lagerfeld—are people too. That means that every so often, they'll be caught out doing normal things—like walking down the street, combing their hair, and, in this case, sitting on a street bench.

"One time, I was at Cafe de Flore in Paris and [Karl] was sitting outside on a bench on the pavement almost like a statue—it was the most amazing thing," The Kills' Alison Mosshart told Vogue TV. "People kept walking by, sitting down next to him and having their photos taken and then they'd get up and walk away. He didn't say a word."

Confession: We also once spotted Karl sitting on a street bench—but it was outside the Mercer Hotel in New York around 10 p.m. He wasn't doing much or saying anything to anybody—just sitting there (like a statue) while his traveling mini-entourage fussed and flounced around him.

Maybe Karl just really likes street benches?
