(Steidl) Paper Passion
is a paper freak—or so he notes (heh, get it?) inside the packaging of Paper Passion
, a new book-inspired perfume Lagerfeld collaborated with Wallpaper*
magazine to create.
creative director is no newbie to the realm of strange scents, though. Remember the bread-scented perfume
"Hunger" he created in back 2003 for Visionaire
? The idea was that you could indulge yourself in the wafting aroma of carbs rather than take a whopping bite out of a loaf of bread. (Does that seriously not sound like a miserable way to diet?)
Abandoning his obsession with object denial, Lagerfeld is now exploring the sensory experience of indulgence. He reportedly has thousands upon thousands of books, mostly about art. The following excerpt written by him—which is featured on the book packaging's first "page"—showcases his fascination: "I am a paper freak. It's a physical passion. I cannot live without paper. Touching perfect paper has something sensuous about it."
You can get that coveted old library scent (sans spending days lost among the stacks) all for $98, either online or in select concept stores, bookshops, and perfumeries, according to a report in the Daily News
Would you guys ever wear book-scented perfume? What other crazy scents do you wish were a thing? I know if they ever figured out how to bottle up bacon, I'd pretty much be in heaven. Mmmm
