Beauty Obsessions of the Day: VS Pro's Powder, Lip Balm, and Face Illuminator

Here at StyleBistro HQ, we have a theory about Victoria's Secret—several theories, actually, but here's our biggest one—that every VS product, whether it's a bra, a top, a blouse, or pajama pants, is man-market-tested.

As in: We don't know how they do it, but pretty much everything Victoria's Secret makes appeals to guys. (Seriously, we've worn some pretty questionable blousy contraptions from the VS catalog and, without fail, some dude will compliment us that day. Spooky.)

Not that "appealing to guys" is really anywhere near the top of our lists when we're getting dressed in the mornings, putting together looks and applying makeup to get us through busy days filled with meetings, office time, after-work cocktails, and work dinners. But this VS Man-Magnet thing is something we've just noticed over the years.

So when Victoria's Secret announced VS Pro, a line of makeup and color cosmetics designed specifically to help women get that straight-off-the-runway look, we knew we had to give the products a spin. Here are three of our favorites from the launch collection:

1. VS Pro Radiant FX Face Illuminator, $15: There's nothing like a touch of shimmer on your cheekbones, chin, and under your brow bone to give you that healthy, glowy look—and this new highlighter does the job in a subtle way. If you hate when shimmery powders and lotions look too obvious and glittery, this warm, rosy formula might just be the stuff your dreams are made of.

2. VS Pro Flawless FX Translucent Finishing Powder, $18: Women are complicated: We want our cheekbones to glow, but our T-zones to be matte... but still natural-looking in its matte-ness. Enter VS Pro's translucent, color-less, finely-milled loose powder that will conceal any shininess, but won't make you look like you've coated your face in sand. Loose powder can be tough to carry around, but this one has an ingenious twist-open-and-closed mechanism which mean you won't have to worry about it spilling all over the inside of your handbag.

3. VS Pro Moisture FX Softening Lip Balm, $12 (coming soon): We love a bit of lippie, but don't always want to spackle on the gloss, you know? And while we're dead-loyal to our Burt's Bees, sometimes it's nice to whip a sleeker, higher-end balm out of our bags after lunch. Say hello to VS Pro's pretty pink Softening Lip Balm, which is expected in stores soon. It's clinically-packaged and super-smart-looking. Plus it's inflused with shea butter, which is soooo good for your pout.
