A Quick Styling Lesson For That Leopard Skirt You're Scared to Buy

More often than not, we see leopard fashioned into faux fur coats and silk blouses, or worn as an accent in the form of lightweight scarves, skinny belts, platform pumps, and clutch purses. It's rare that we see someone step out in a leopard print pencil skirt.

Perhaps that's because it's not the easiest garment to wear. If not styled exactly right, wearing leopard below the waist tends to look campy and kitschy. Thank goodness we have British singer Eliza Doolittle to show us how to make this bold piece look sleek and sexy, as opposed to tawdry and tacky.

At the Men's Health party in London last night, Eliza threw on her kitty-printed piece with a leather crop top and nude single-strap sandals, which she tempered with minimal makeup and jewelry, and a billowing cream overcoat (much like the one Kim Kardashian is wearing these days) that tied it all together.

The lesson to be learned here? Keep the focus on the skirt by styling it with slinky neutrals. (Big coat optional.) Allowing it to be your only sartorial statement is the key to pulling it off.
