(Warner Bros. | Pacific Coast News)If there's one thing Taylor Swift is known for, unrelated to her music, it's her style. Swift's fashion sense is often heralded, and it should be — she's a killer dresser. Her carefully crafted blend of preppy and vintage with just the right amount of sex appeal walks the fine line of hot and modest without forgoing a sense of cool. It's a tricky thing to pull off for sure, but is it original?
Upon closer examination (i.e. a TNT '80s movie marathon), it appears Swift might just be a huge fan of Risky Business, the 1983 Tom Cruise classic featuring Rebecca De Mornay as Lana, the call girl who rocks his world and unintentionally contributes to the destruction of a perfectly good Porsche. Plot details aside, it's Lana's look that stands out in comparison to Taylor's. The similarities are undeniable. This is the a "who wore it better" to end all "who wore it betters" and they're separated by three decades!
The bangs? The stripes? The elbow length sleeve? Come on, now!
Ivory sweater with black bow accent? Check. (Although, as a point of difference, Taylor decided to wear a bra.)
Bow tie? Taylor's got that too.
Even the hat selection matches.
A striped knit sweater? If it was good enough for Rebecca De Mornay, it's good enough for Taylor Swift.
A double dose of vintage inspired black cap-sleeve dresses if you please.
Letterman jacket? Yeah, Taylor's got that too.
And a short sleeved wrap print dress? You'll find one in both their closets. (What they do while wearing their short sleeved wrap print dress though is almost surely different.)
If Hollywood ever starts developing a Risky Business remake, which it undoubtedly will because of course, they know who to call for the female lead.
