Way back in February, just before the Oscars, Valentino sent out a press release announcing that Anne Hathaway would be wearing one of the label's designs to the ceremony.
But, at the last minute, the actress changed her mind and decided to go with a pale pink Prada gown to accept her Academy Award, instead.
It's not that she didn't like her Valentino couture dress, she was just afraid that it was too similar to Amanda Seyfried's Alexander McQueen Oscars getup, and she didn't want to steal any of her Les Mis Co-star's mock-turtleneck-ballgown thunder.
And then, last night, Nicole Kidman walked the red carpet at the Nebraska premiere in Cannes wearing this lace overlay Valentino gown — which People thinks is the design Anne Hathaway almost wore to the Academy Awards.
Oh, Anne. It's not even that similar to Amanda Seyfried's dress! And it would have looked so pretty on you. Nicole Kidman seems happy with the way things worked out, though.
