Way back in 2009, when President Obama was first inaugurated, Michelle Obama stunned at the inaugural ball wearing a white chiffon one-shoulder gown by up-and-coming young designer Jason Wu.
And now, the rumor mill is churning as to what the FLOTUS will wear on Monday for the President's second inaugural ball—you hear that, Monday! Set your DVRs now—and as to be expected, designers are staying tight-lipped about her gown options.
But thankfully for those of us who simply just cannotwait to know, WWD got the scoop on a few of the designers in the running. Reportedly, East Wing staffers called in samples from nearly 20 different designers for the weekend's festivities.
And the nominees are...
Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Naeem Khan, Marchesa, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Bibhu Mohapatra, Thakoon, Tracy Reese, Chris Benz, Tory Burch, Narciso Rodriguez, Zac Posen, Maria Cornejo, Thom Browne, Barbara Tfank, and Laura Smalls.
Initial thoughts? There's definitely a few of the FLOTUS' favorites on there, but until Monday, we'll just have to settle with basking in 2009's gorgeous gown:
Last but not least, it's the FLOTUS' big 4-9 today—Happy birthday, Mrs. O!
