It's no secret that extreme cutouts and peekaboo paneling have begun taking over the red carpet, but this is the first time we've seen sheer detailing look so ladylike.

At the CFDA and Vogue 2013 Fashion Fund Finalists Celebration in NYC last night, Girls actress Allison Williams went for '50s glam in a crisp white button-down shirt with transparent detailing down both shoulders, and a black tea-length evening skirt with three sheer stripes.

Now, here's why Allison's outfit works. Between the classic cuts of both of her garments and the strategic placement of the cutouts, she's not showing off too much of her figure nor too much skin. The combination of the two allows her sheer paneling to come across as prim and demure, as opposed to gutsy and borderline indecent.
