Those nine months in which you're expecting are often regarded as one of the most exciting times of your life, yet equally as harrowing. Thanks to a rapidly expanding waistline, it can't be easy to try and flatteringly dress a figure that's changing every single day. That's where we come in; we've caught a slew chic cues from a few of our favorite celebrities who are currently 'in the family way'... Here, 10 simple styling tricks on how to be one haute momma.

1) Black out—all the way. It's the most slimming shade there is, so this one shouldn't come as a surprise. However, if your goal is to look a little slimmer while you're carrying a child, Kristin Cavallari knows the trick: Accentuating an all black outfit with all black accessories somehow makes your overall silhouette even sleeker. (Healthy green juice totally optional.)

2) Step out in stilettos, but be careful. Delicate condition be damned. Gwen Stefani is living, breathing, stiletto-strutting proof that it's A-OK to rock high heels on the regular while anticipating an arrival, but even she understands the importance of reinforcements. Be smart like Hollywood's hottest momma and only sport high-heeled shoes and boots with added ankle support. (Better safe than sorry!)

3) K.I.S.S.—Keep it slightly simple. Expectant British heiress Tamara Ecclestone knows that nothing is more classicly chic than a tee worn with jeans, pumps, and a wool coat. But when that tee is black and the skinny jeans are ripped and the heels are leopard and the coat is camel, well that gives this uptown look a fun, funky downtown twist.

4) Don't be afraid to play around. If keeping it simple feels strange since you've always been crazy for busy patterns and vibrant colors, stick with what you know. Besides, as Drew Barrymore recently proved, bright, pretty prints and interesting, intricate textures make for one whimsical "with child" wardrobe that everyone can't help but love.

5) Take a few more risks. Speaking of being a bit more playful, who says you have to keep an expectant tummy tucked away and completely covered up? Preggers Kerry Washington recently took a red carpet risk in the form of an adorable crop top, and it paid off majorly. The takeaway here? Cherry pick an unexpected trend or two and take a shot. Why? The better question is why not?

6) Yes, you can wear stripes. Many think long-sleeved Breton tops are best left in the closets of long, lithe French women whose frames tend to be without a single inch to pinch, but Emily Blunt is a prime example as to why you should slip something striped over your teeming tummy. The printed top alone helped dress up the rest of her casual ensemble.

7) Show off a little skin. With so much happening above the waist, it's not always easy to strike the perfect balance with what you're working with down below. If you find yourself feeling unstylish and uninspired, don't turn to the muumuu—make like the enchanting enceinte Elsa Pataky and get your limbs out. Arms and legs. (Just make sure they're moisturized.)

8) Balance a billowing belly with a big scarf. When it's too warm for a winter coat but too cool for just a thin sweater, follow Olivia Wilde's lead and drape an oversize wrap around your neck and shoulders. Here's another hint: A shawl with an eccentric print and tons of tassels looks even edgier—especially when worn with sunnies.

9) Don't let your bump be your only accessory. We know, we know—everyone will probably gawk at your belly the second it begins blooming, but when you'd like to present your friends and colleagues with a suitable sartorial alternative, simply draw the eye up with an amazing sparkly statement neckpiece, just like Teresa Palmer's.

10) When in doubt, go for full-on fabulous in a fur. Face it: A fantastic furry, fluffy overcoat is the ultimate transformative garment, so take a cue from Ciara and keep warm while serving up a side of fierce. Bonus points if it's cream or white—we already know how great an ivory coat is for minimizing a burgeoning belly.
