Harley Viera-Newton, Alexa Chung and Leigh Lezark (Getty)We should have known when Alexa Chung pulled off shortalls, she could pull off anything. This week, she conquered a new sartorial challenge when she managed to make lumberjack plaid uber-pretty.
Alexa celebrated her new "It Girl" Nylon cover in NYC wearing a black and red tartan dress with a charming contrast collar (the secret to girlifying anything). Funky cutout pumps accompanied the piece and she later topped the look with a prim tweed jacket. Of course her signature bangs and shoulder-sweeping waves were in their usual place.
Now, we called the trend in August when Mollie King, Victoria Beckham and Diane Kruger all joined the movement, but Alexa's take struck a chord with its extra sweetness. Take a scroll through the photos, will this convince you to give the '90s grunge motif a go?
