Put down those budget-busting anti-aging creams, well, for just a second, at least. New research shows there's a simpler (and wallet-friendlier!) way to make yourself look younger — instantly! No "miracle" products or, ahem, procedures necessary. (Hear that Kim K?)

What a difference a little contrast makes, eh? (Medicalxpress.com)
According to a study conducted by psychology professor Richard Russell, along with CE.R.I.E.S. (Epidermal and Sensory Research and Investigation Center) researchers, the amount of color contrast on your face affects how people perceive your age.

In normal-people speak, products like blush, bronzer, and (most notably) lipstick can make you appear younger!

To come to this conclusion, Russell and his team examined photos of 289 women — ranging in age from 20 to 70 years old — and they found that as we age, the color of our lips and eyes (even eyebrows!) change, while our skin gets duller. (No surprise there.) The aging process then, creates less contrast among our facial features, giving older gals a visibly different look than their youthful counterparts.

The research team thus proved their hunch by enhancing the facial contrast on photos and asking people to guess ages. (See the example, above.) Even the slightest tinted lip makes a dramatic difference, no? Kind of makes you think twice about the way you put on makeup.

Now, please excuse us while we go stock up on brow pencils, bronzers, and bold lip shades. Kthanks!
