Whenever St. Patrick's Day rolls around, all you see is green. The vibrant color has come to represent the holiday as folks wear emerald head-to-toe whether they're in Irish pubs or marching in parades. Take this opportunity to incorporate the color into your beauty routine by trying green eyeshadow. The color can be tricky, but we've come up with a few tips by rounding up some celebs wearing the look. See how it's done, then shop our suggestions for green eye makeup below.

1. Bold Lids

Follow Lena Dunham and Solange Knowles' lead and cover the whole lid in a highly pigmented green shade. Apply shadow liberally, even past the inner and outer corners of your eyes.

2. Subtle Shimmer

A small touch of green still makes eyes pop–the trick is to leave everything else on your face bare or neutral. Hayden Panettiere swiped electric green liner on her top lids, while Emmy Rossum lined her eyes in forest green. Kerry Washington went for a darker hue as well and applied the shadow beneath her lower lashes for a smokey effect.

3. Two-Toned

Kelly Rowland combined bronze shadow and green on her bottom lashes, while January Jones paired metallic green with lime. Rihanna brought out her brown shadow by wearing green on her lower lashline that extended into wings.
