Pastel eyeshadow had a pretty big moment in 2013. To recall just a few, Anna Camp wore an icy blue, Kerry Washington wore a powdery lavender, Carina Ricco wore sea foam greenLily Collins wore ballet slipper pink, and Julianne Hough wore sparkly silver.

But what do you call silver without the shimmer? That's right; plain old heather gray. Which is precisely what Laura Carmichael (a.k.a. Lady Edith Crawley on Downton Abbey) wore at a press event in New York City two weeks ago.

Don't mistake it—we're into the smoky slate hue swept on her lids. It's just that we've gotten so used to seeing light shades of gray dusted over the eyes with a hint of glimmer. We totally forgot how great it looks when worn matte.
