Interesting Ingredient: Give Your Skin a Pick-Me-Up With a DIY Coffee Scrub

If the delicious scent of coffee wakes you right up each morning, perhaps you might want to bring a bit of that aromatic java magic in the shower with you as well, especially if your skin could use a little pick-me-up, too!

IF YOUR PROBLEM IS... Lumpy, dimply thighs.

THEN HERE'S YOUR SOLUTION... Smooth over unsightly cellulite with regular coffee scrub exfoliation sessions. The caffeine in a cup of joe is quite invigorating for the dermis; it stimulates circulation, tightens slack skin, and restricts and reduces the size of fat cells, helping to diminish the appearance of adipose tissue.

Of course you could purchase one, like Juara Invigorating Coffee Scrub ($37), or you could simply make your own.

You'll need:

-Fresh unflavored dark roast coffee grounds
-Baking soda
-Brown sugar
-Almond oil
-Peppermint oil
-A Mason jar

Here's how you do it:

1) Pour 1 cup of almond oil into an empty (but clean!) Mason jar, along with 1/2 cup of dry unflavored coffee grounds and 1/4 cup of baking soda. Mix thoroughly.

2) Stir in 1/2 cup of brown sugar, followed by one tablespoon of peppermint oil. (The mixture should be thick, yet still slightly slick.)

3) Massage it into your skin thrice weekly—concentrating on your thighs if you have cellulite—using upward, sweeping, circular motions. Store it in your refrigerator for up to two weeks. (Be sure to close the jar tightly!)
