Hat's off to those of you who have mastered the at-home blowout, but if you're struggling to get the hang of it, make sure you bookmark this page. Nick Penna, Creative Director of Be Styled Blowdry Lounge in Boston, shares his top tips on how to perfect a salon-worthy blowout all on your lonesome.

1) Remember to ask for a touch of volume. "It will be worth it by day three when your blowdry is still flawless," says Penna.

2) Steer clear of tight hair ties if you decide to pull your hair up. "A tight band will cause a crease," says Penna, who recommends you use a large clip or a soft tie instead.

3) Avoid steam at all costs. "Humidity can destroy a blowout, so always wear a shower cap to keep the moisture away," says Penna.

4) Invest in a good dry shampoo. "It’s your best friend. Dry shampoo is an instant style refresher that helps absorb oil for long-lasting blowdrys."

5) Don't touch. "Let the stunning style set and don’t mess with it," says Penna. "Touching it too much accumulates oil and makes your blowdry fall flat."
